We went into Charleston for the first time and LOVED it! We took a carriage ride through the city to learn about the history.

This was our carriage... when you board you really don't know where your carriage is going. Each carriage has to stop and check in with the city official and is given a district in which we are allowed to tour. There are three districts and your carriage has to stay in the assigned district or the driver gets fined 1100 bucks!! We were lucky and our carriage got district one so we got to see all the good stuff :)
This is rainbow row. This row of homes was set to be torn down and a women purchased one in efforts to save the row, it being one of the oldest row on homes in the city. The women painted the house pink and restored the inside and invited everyone she knew to visit. They all loved what she did and ended up saving the whole row of homes.
One of the homes on the Battery. All of the homes are so beautiful. We loved how huge the porches were.
The Calhoun mansion... the largest in the city, over 24,000 square feet!!!
Poogan's Porch... this is where we ate dinner and it was one of the best meals we have had in a long time. The restaurant was named after the family dog Poogan who used to lay on the porch all day long.
